North Dakota Massage Therapy

Continuing Education Requirements

Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state and the laws are constantly changing. It's our current understanding that in North Dakota, licenses must be renewed every 2 years from the time of initial licensure. The number of continuing education hours required depends on how long you've been licensed/practicing massage therapy.

  • Licensed/practicing 1-14 years: For the 1st license renewal after becoming licensed you are not required to obtain CE hours. But, the 2nd renewal after becoming licensed you must obtain 24 CE hours, 3 of thse hours must be in ethics. After the 2nd renewal ethics is optional.
  • Licensed/practicing 15-24 years: 6 CE hours are required.
  • Licensed/practicing 25+ years: 3 CE hours are required.

What We Can Do For You!

  • Half of your required CE hours may be obtained through our home study programs. The remaining hours must be obtained by in-person or hands-on methods.
  • If applicable, you can use our various ethics continuing education courses to satisfy your North Dakota requirement.
  • Because the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider, the North Dakota Board of Massage will accept all of our 160+ courses to satisfy your continuing education requirements with the exception of courses related to animal massage.
