Illinois Massage Therapy

Continuing Education Requirements

TEMPORARY CE CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19

Massage therapy license requirements vary from state to state and the laws are constantly changing. It is our current understanding that Illinois requires massage therapists to complete 24 CE hours every 2 years for license renewal, of which 2 CE hours must be in ethics. For licensees renewing AFTER January 1, 2020, 1 CE hour on the topic of sexual harassment prevention training must be completed.

What We Can Do For You!

  • As of September 15, 2020, the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation amended by emergency rulemaking the requirement pertaining to the number of CE hours that must be obtained through live training for this renewal period - ending December 31, 2020. Therefore, you may take all 24 continuing education hours through our home study programs. For more information please visit http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/index/register/volume44/register_volume44_issue_40.pdf.
  • You can use our various ethics continuing education courses to satisfy your Illinois requirements.
  • The Illinois Board of Massage will accept all of our 160+ courses to satisfy the 24-hour requirement as we are an Approved Continuing Education Sponsor for Illinois (#245.000004).

If you would like to verify this information, or have further questions regarding your massage therapy continuing education requirements, we suggest contacting the Illinois Board of Massage directly. The telephone number for the Illinois Board is 217-785-0800 or visit their website at http://www.idfpr.com/profs/MassageTherapy.asp.

Remember, the Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies is approved by the NCBTMB as a continuing education Approved Provider (#049478-00) and Health Positive! is a division of the Institute. All of our continuing education programs can be used for your Board Certification renewal.

You may also use our credits for other organizations you belong to such as the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) or Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals (ABMP).
