Description

Learn why reducing anxiety through massage can have extensive health benefits. Combining four articles written especially for the Institute's Massage Professionals Update E-newsletter, this brief program will provide insights into:

  • Research demonstrating the need for massage therapists to work side-by-side with cardiologists, pulmonologists and gastroenterologists to reduce anxiety and physical illness.
  • How massage therapy can unlock and free clients of tissues memories caused by the unexpressed trauma of past experiences.
  • Alleviating panic attacks by reducing client stress and tension.
  • Massage and music therapies lessening anxiety and reduce the need for pain medication post-surgery.

In the Anxiety & Massage program we've combined four articles written especially for the Institute's Massage Professionals Update. These four articles include:

  • Why Massage's Reduction of Anxiety Is So Important - Based on the premise that massage reduces anxiety, a collection of emerging research suggests that massage therapists are needed to work side-by-side with cardiologists, pulmonologists and gastroenterologists.
  • Learn How to Unlock Tissue Memory - The unexpressed trauma of past experiences stored in the musculature and connective tissue of our bodies creates tension, blocks circulation and can ultimately lead to pain and disease. Learn what you can do as a massage therapist to unlock and free clients of these tissue memories.
  • Bodywork Can Help Panic Disorder - Massage therapy can be a valuable method for easing panic disorders, a serious condition that can occur repeatedly and without warning. Find out how bodywork therapy helps alleviate the severity of panic attacks by reducing a client's stress and tension level.
  • Medicine for the Heart: Massage and Music - After finding out one has to have surgery, anxiety about postoperative pain ranks high among the stressors. Indeed, the anxiety itself is believed to increase pain levels and may be a contributor to postoperative distress. Heart surgery ranks high in patient apprehension, but massage and music therapies have been shown to lessen anxiety and reduce the need for pain medication.

You can either read the articles by clicking on any of the titles above or upon enrollment you'll be able to access these articles and your online test through your online course account.
